SLY

In the fall of 1999 Susan Hosey, created the alias "Sly" in honor of one of the kindest gentlemen she has ever known, her late father Sylvester Mullins. The character Sly is half Cherokee Indian, just like Susan's paternal great grandmother.

Robert (Big Jake Hosey) was the first to find out about the sport, and soon took Sly and their three children (Little Jake, Tumbleweed Hosey, and Angel Girl) who were 11,13, and 15 to learn gun safety with Splinter Houser, Lone Dude and Rome Clay at the Statesville FOP range. The Iredell Regulators became their "home" club, but they had the opportunity to shoot nearly every weekend of the month at several ranges in the surrounding areas. They shot in Charlotte with the Carolina Rough Riders, in Salisbury with the Old North State Posse, and often even traveled to Lenoir to shoot with the Gunpowder Creek Regulators. When their children's sports schedules permitted, they enjoyed shooting together as a family and became very active in helping with Gun Shows, Glock Matches, also helping with SASS booths at Shot Shows, NRA Conventions, Cowboy/Victorian fashion shows and classes at SASS Reunions and Conventions, and enjoy traveling as a family competing in matches all over the country.

Sly enjoys making her own (and her girl's) Victorian ball gowns, leather chaps, Native American clothing, as well as the B Western Indian clothes, and cowgirl outfits. Depending on the category she is competing (either Ladies Traditional, or B Western) she shoots a Winchester 73, or a Marlin 94, along with her Winchester 97 shotgun, and her pair of nickel plated Colt 45 single action revolvers.

In her "real" life she is a mother of two girls, Kristen (20), and Shannon (18), and a 16 yr old son named Zachary. She is active in her church, is a retired Cytotechnologist who now is a Personal Trainer, teaches aerobics and strength training classes, loves to water ski, snow ski, sew, travel and shoot. The thing she loves best about CAS is the interesting diversity of friends she has met from all over the country and the family fun she has shared over the years. YEEEE HAAAAA!!!!!
